My very LA weekend in Malibu – Day 1

Going to Nobu Malibu has become a bit of joke between hubby and I…as in I’ve been waiting just a mere 3 years for him to take me ….

Nobu in London was a regular hang out of mine for their lychee martini cocktails and black cod – the perfect meet up spot for some delicious food and drinks before going hitting the town.  I’ve been dying to go to the one in Malibu since we arrived – that gorgeous location over the sand and sea, sushi, celebs, gorgeous folk in gorgeous clothes…oh and of course The BEST black cod…almost 3 years later and despite constant reminders of how much I want/needed to go, still nada…until my Birthday! Yes!!!  2 weeks ago he surprised me with not only a trip to Nobu but a whole weekend in beautiful Malibu – I was one very happy and lucky gal 🙂

We arrived Saturday afternoon with a couple of hours to kill (sweet hubs booked a  ‘sunset seating’ by the water) so we headed straight to Malibu Farm on Malibu Pier. I wore a cotton poplin off shoulder blouse with a ruffle, denim 7 for all mankind jeans and my favorite distressed tan Chloe boots that I have had forever. Malibu Farm is on many a chic  Instagram page so I had to check it out – it’s a gorgeous restaurant on the pier and the decor has a really laid back, rustic style. We didn’t eat there but we enjoyed some delicious Rose wine and specialty cocktails. It was absolutely packed and the food looked delish so I would love to go back and try it out!

Then it was time to head back and change for our Malibu date- we had a whole cottage, complete with ocean view, chickens and hot tub. Oh and not to mention it was in the grounds of a Hollywood Movie Producer’s House … I mean…so LA babes.

Nobu Malibu was just everything and more! We started with some beautiful little kushi oysters, and a seaweed salad. For our hot dishes we chose the Shrimp with Lobster & Spicy Lemon Sauce and the Black Cod with Miso.  The black cod was the best I’ve ever had – even better than London (sorry), the lobster dish was delicious – very simple flavors and ingredients and then we finished with a beautiful sushi special of the day – soooo good!

Drinks wise it was all about the lychee martinis – couldn’t stop.  After dinner we moved to the bar area and sat outside with more lychee cocktails…I think I could live there….

With the imminent arrival of Nobu Newport Beach I cannot wait to be a regular customer!
